What is a digital twin?

A digital twin is a dynamic virtual replica of a physical infrastructure. Fed in real time with field data, it makes it possible to visualize, analyze and optimize operations and maintenance processes. In a port environment, this technology improves logistics flow management, helps anticipate incidents and enhances overall performance.

With Immersive, this solution is lightweight and cross-platform, offering maximum flexibility across devices without requiring complex equipment. Immersive also plays a key role in making operations safer: by providing a faithful replica of reality, it helps users better understand the impact of their actions and assess potential consequences before any intervention. Compared with traditional interfaces based on buttons and lists, immersive visualization supports decision-making and reduces the risk of error.

01 / Visualise operations

Realistic, immersive 3D modeling

Thanks to Immersive, our advanced monitoring solution, the port of Le Havre now has a remarkably accurate 3D environment. This digital twin represents the entire port infrastructure in real time: straddle carriers, gantry cranes, containers, trucks and container ships.

02 / Prepare the route

Guide, optimize, reassure

By harnessing the strengths of 3D, we help users find their way easily through a complex environment.

An interactive first-person view makes them feel as though they are physically following the route, helping them anticipate its different stages and better understand their journey.

This approach is particularly valuable for personnel visiting a large or unfamiliar site, giving them an effective tool for guidance and preparation.

A project supporting digital transformation

This partnership between GMP, Hub One and GraphicStream illustrates the importance of digital twins in digitizing industrial infrastructure. By combining our respective expertise, we deliver an innovative, high-performance solution suited to the challenges of modern ports.

At GraphicStream, we remain committed to developing advanced immersive technologies. This project with GMP is another step in our mission to support industrial organizations in their digital transformation.

Testimonials

From the people who keep the port running.

Exploring our data with the Immersive 3D solution gives us an incredible level of detail and clarity about our port operations.

Cyril HAUCHECORNEGMP - Production Systems IT Manager

We are moving towards an immersive 3D digital twin that, beyond visualizing volumes — important for locating containers stacked up to three high once positioned in the terminal — will enable goods to be tracked and the ideal port call to be modeled, helping to shorten its duration.

Louis JonquièreGMP - Managing Director

The data displayed will adapt to each user's profile. We now have a gateway to our data to help users make decisions: that gateway will be immersive IT.

We have a clearer view of events in the terminals, including, for example, the ability to immediately identify a loaded straddle carrier. Users will also be able to drill down into the data associated with each object, including technical information about equipment operation.

This progress in digitizing terminals is also generating new ideas to improve operational efficiency and operator safety. We can now envisage intelligent lighting management in terminals, limiting lighting to areas where operations are underway, tracking dockworkers carrying out technical interventions to avoid areas where straddle carriers are operating, or displaying refrigerated container energy consumption in real time.
